Accelerating Spinning Top

Print Note:

• Make sure you align the flat edge of the shaft with the flat edge of the hole in the ball when assembling
• The tolerance is tight so depending on the printer it might be hard to slide together without a touch of sanding or scraping
• The ball is not supposed to move after assembly 

Physics:

The potential energy from the ball gets converted to kinetic energy as it descends from its max height. The energy gets added to the angular velocity of the top causing the acceleration.
