To achieve a relatively supple yet robust 3D printed bag, I experimented with various connection structures. Previously, I attempted printing the base and side panels with TPU and the front and back panels with PLA for flexibility, but TPU's higher cost limits its widespread use among hobbyists. Therefore, I opted to print all components using PLA, yielding surprisingly positive results.
Specifically, the bag's base and side panels feature U-shaped connectors. Rhombus-shaped clasps on the inner walls of these connectors interlock with the front and back units. While the strength of an individual connection is not exceptionally high, the numerous (dozens of) connection points contribute to a substantial overall load-bearing capacity.
Before printing the full bag, it is recommended to print Test 1 and Test 2, the partial modules. After printing, gently flex them to assess flexibility. Then, connect the two modules to evaluate connection strength. If the connection is loose, increase Test 2's thickness by 0.1-0.2mm.
Future additions may include a carrying strap and supplementary puzzle-like pieces for the bag's surface.
